Set within a stunning private coastal estate between Gullane and North Berwick, Archerfield Links offers two distinct championship courses — the Fidra Links and the Dirleton Links — in an exclusive, unhurried setting that feels a world apart from everyday life. Golf here is a genuinely private experience; no day tickets, no crowded tee sheets. Every guest walks the same ground as those who have enjoyed this remarkable estate for centuries.
The Archerfield Estate has a rich history stretching back centuries, with connections to Robert Louis Stevenson who reportedly used Fidra Island — visible from the course — as inspiration for Treasure Island. The current golf courses were developed in the early 2000s, designed by Darren Lee (Fidra Links) and Kyle Phillips (Dirleton Links), to take full advantage of the dramatic duneland and coastal terrain. The estate's historic walled garden and mature woodland frame the experience beautifully.
Access to Archerfield is not easy to arrange for visiting golfers — it requires longstanding relationships with the estate management. The sense of exclusivity and the sheer quality of both courses make it one of the most talked-about rounds our guests play. If you want to play golf somewhere genuinely special, Archerfield delivers.
